The Kek Lok Si Temple is he largest Buddhist temple in Southeast
Asia. Nestled within the hills of Penang, it is dedicated to the
Goddess of Mercy and is fondly known as the Temple of Paradise.
The 7-tier Pagoda of 10,000 Buddhas, which dominates the temple,
is influenced by the architectural styles of the Thais, Burmese
and Chinese. After exploring the temple complex, we'll take the
funicular rail ride up Penang Hill. Located 830m above sea level,
this was once a cool hill retreat during the colonial days. Now,
it's a perfect spot for a panoramic view of Georgetown and the
Straits of Melaka. On a clear day, you might even see Butterworth
on the mainland.
